What is your favorite online photo album site?

Post by Steve_Immel on Sat Dec 20, 2008 11:35 pm

Taking pics of our rides is half the fun of riding, right? Sharing the freak Colorado storm that you had to outrun, the view of the aspen from that ridge, that spectacular sunset and so on. So, I've used a few online photo albums and presently post my rides to Flikr. So, tell us which site that you prefer and why. Also, point us to some of your albums, and be sure to add your favorite pics to the Gallery and stories with a photo or two plus a link to your online album in the Ride Reoprts Forum.

Animoto

I tried a service that I came across in Entrepreneur Magazine call Animoto. A :30 photo-video is free. The full length photo-video at the link below is $2.99. You select the photos from your 'puter or a share-site like Flickr, then upload or pick from their selection of music, submit, and the system does the rest based on recognizing the style of photo and style/rythim of music.

Photobucket does a pretty good job. I have the Pro version. Here's the example of my bike pic for evaluation -

And, for the chuckles -

Hey OJ- So what is it that you like about PhotoBucket? I'm thinking about setting up a community photo-site for the club. I usually just post a link to someplace like my Flickr site, but was inspired by the group photo site setup on SmugMug by Colorado Beemers. I'm thinking the frontrunners to do this are SmugMug, PhotoBucket, Flickr, Picasa (Google) and ShutterFly. Check out the Colorado Beemers site at http://coloradobeemers.smugmug.com/

Love the cockpit view !

Steve

Hi Steve,
I can't comment on other programs because photobucket is the only one I've tried. They have a free version for one to try out and the Pro version is almost limitless at $3.95 per month or $39.95 per year - the free version has limits. It's easy to use and they have tutorials and forum help as well as email support. I haven't used all the choices but I am on five gun forums where I regularly post pics.

In the past, copying pics only required left click on the bottom line of four choices but, a couple of months ago, it changed to having to left click on the choice, then right click on the bar to copy for posting. I'm told that's because FlashPlayer went from version 9 to version 10 and, presumably, photobucket is working on a solution because V.9 or 10 is needed for photobucket to work and, I could explain surgery but not such things as internet programs interactions.

In reality, it's a minor annoyance and not a major problem.

Glad you liked the cockpit view - the 'Buckle Up" sticker was put there for a reason.

I use SmugMug. Not free but with unlimited uploads and original photo sizes, pretty hard to beat if you want to share photos with friends.

My M/C pics can be found at:

I'm leanin' your way. My pics are at:

I'm thinking about setting up a club GROUP site like that of Colorado Beemers. This way everybody can submit to club galleries. Check it out:

I think the group setup would be cool. This shot on the ColoradoBeemers site looks like trouble:
