First Day Ride to Rockyard Brewery. Castle Rock - 1 Jan 09

Post by firedawg on Mon Dec 29, 2008 6:41 pm

I bumped anasazi's post over to here to see if we can get a thread going so we can all meet up and ride to Castle Rock drunken

Is there any interest in PP Riders meeting someplace in the morning to ride as a group?

Also,
I was thinking of checking out the condition of 105 and riding from
Palmer Lake to Castle Rock the back way... assuming there aren't ice
patches in the shade. Any interest?

If interested please post interest and suggestions for meeting time and place.

I was thinking of meeting at the Harley Davidson shop on N. Nevada and then heading North. The back way sounds good to me if the road conditions permit.

105 & meetign spots

Post by anasazi on Mon Dec 29, 2008 9:40 pm

I drove 105/Parry Park Rd today. It is a nicely paved road that gently curves along the bluffs west of I-25 from Palmer Lake to Sadalia. It's a beautiful ride with great scenery, ranches that make me drool, gently curving blacktop and sparse traffic even during rush-hour. Speed limit is around 45 to 55 the entire route. Conditions were great with no snow, ice, melt-off or loose sand or gravel.

I was thinking of meeting either at (a) La Casita North Nevada, (b) sompleace farther north like the shops at Briargate, or (c) someplace more like Rosies Diner in Monument. I like the latter as we could get breakfast and a brew (the other kind), there could be some great photo-ops in front of the 50's style stainless diner, and members from Monument and Black Forest might be more apt to join us. Rosie's is the start of the ride from Monument though Palmer Lake then along 105.

As long as there is plenty of coffee I'm ok. Speaking of coffee the "It's A Grind Coffee" shop in Monument might also be a spot to consider. They have a fireplace and one of their brews is "High Octane"

I think a place in Monument would be great.
